Moritz Lotze, Festung Peschiera: Brücke über den Mincio, (Piazzaforte di Peschiera: Ponte sul Mincio), 1866

The exhibition brings together a selection of 120 photographs, all vintage prints, some of which previously unseen in public, taken by Moritz, Richard and Emil Lotze. The images tell the story of Lake Garda in the second half of the 19th century, with particular reference to its relation with the Tyrol area. During the second half of the 19th century, the photographic studio of the German Moritz Lotze, based in Verona, was considered one of the most highly qualified in North Italy. The studio, in which his sons Emil and Richard also worked, undertook major commissions, documenting the construction of the great infrastructures throughout the territory.
